So it's been a couple of weeks since I've posted on Substack. If you've seen my last post, it was an article kind of just me grieving because we lost our dog from a sickness and she just didn't get better. So we had to make the decision to euthanize her, and it was my first time ever having to do that and make that big grown-up decision. So it was scary, but I did feel relief at the end of the day because she wasn't in pain anymore. So I'm glad my husband and I were able to do that together. Now we have another dog, and we're trying to make sure she's healthy. She's also become a senior dog, so she has her issues, but hopefully, we're just taking it day by day and hoping we get a few more years with her.
But I did want to update y'all with something exciting because the whole purpose of this podcast, exclusively on Substack, is so that I can be more consistent, right? And I think I'm getting there.
So I've been working with my nutritionist to establish a good, healthy routine. She's my nutritionist, but she's also helping me because everything impacts how you eat, like getting enough rest and having a routine so you can eat on time and all those things, right? And then she's also helping me to change my mindset around, like, feeling FOMO if I went to sleep early or didn't have enough time for myself. But I feel like when I habit stack, that is when things click.
Because I also wanted to read every day and have accountability with that. So what do I do in the mornings? I go on TikTok Live and I read aloud. We have morning sunrise, morning readings, morning book reads, and we're reading Year of the Yes by Shonda Rhimes. So another motivating situation, you know, motivating myself with the book, but also with being consistent with that.
During the time I was grieving my dog, I was not doing that. And also, we had a series of storms in Houston, and it was just very demotivating. I wanted to be in bed, like all that was going on. And I was like, no, but I'm back and just trying to, you know, work through it. I'm feeling better.
I think what I'm going to do is I'll write my morning routine to go along with this post because, you know, sometimes I write a little extra with these voice notes. But this one's probably going to be a little longer. But, yeah, that's one thing I'm excited about. I'm getting my routine together.
My morning at-home routine:
Wake up at 6 am.
Scroll on my phone and/or read my devotional
Get out the bed around 6:30 am to handle my hygiene and bodily drainage.
Drink a cup of water.
Between 6:55 and 7 am, take a 10-15 min walk outside and thank God for the day. (I’m working on getting my daily natural vitamin D.)
Come back indoors and drink a couple more cups of water.
Hop on TikTok live to do my morning book reading for 10-30 min. (It changes depending on my week.)
Drink one more glass of water before I leave for work.

Another thing I'm excited about is that I've been consistent with the Fresh Media podcast. I just filmed the 10th episode. So that's going to be up and ready to go by Thursday. So I'm thinking of scheduling it and just promoting it. Because before, I was like, okay, I'll record like Wednesday because it was like longer, or maybe that was how our schedules lined up. But this week, I got the chance to record on Monday. So I was like, yeah, I got time. And it feels great. So I'm like, I hope maybe Mondays are recording days. I don't know. We'll see. Hopefully, I can do something like that because then it gives me all week. And then I won't feel rushed to write the article. So I'm completing that today.
So yeah, and the article isn't that long. It's like a little blurb, probably maybe 500 words, something like that. It's nothing really, really long. Sometimes I'll do a transcript excerpt if the interview is long, but if it's just short, I'm just doing recaps or "here's what's in the episode," something like that. So maybe I'll become more consistent with the way I format that. But as of now, I'm just happy that I'm able to do that in general. And that just really goes in the description box, and I'm able to create a blog post for my website, so it goes multiple places. So I'm excited because hopefully, I'll get to promote it more. Well, I may only have one good clip from it as far as the clips I created from the overall interview, but yeah, I'm excited.
And then last but not least, I woke up to seeing Beyoncé on her Cécred Instagram saying that she has dry scalp, which I also suffer from. So I'm like, you know, we got something in common. She says she has psoriasis. I have eczema. And for those of you who struggle with dry skin, dry scalp, like it's a lifelong issue. It can be embarrassing, but you have to just make sure you moisturize, you're eating really well, and drinking a lot of water because everything can break your skin out. Make sure you use healthy materials and products for your hair. So that gives me even more satisfaction that she created a haircare line because it's like, girl, you understand. You understand the struggle.
So, yeah. Thanks for tuning in. This is really the longest voice note that I've done on here. This is a mini-podcast, but I'm going to add more details in the post. So check it out.
